R. Huna was so poor that he used to make bundles of grass and sell them in order to obtain wine for the sanctification of the Sabbath (kiddusk).

One day Rab 'Anan met him and asked him what he was doing, saying to him: "What good is this grass that you are tying up in bundles?"

R. Huna replied: "I had no wine for the past Sabbath, and pawned my Sabbath mantle and bought wine for the money. Now I wish to sell this grass and take my mantle out of pawn."

Then Rab replied: "May it be the will of God that you shall be covered with silk clothes."

On the day when Rabbah, son of R. Huna, was married, R. Huna, who was a short man, lay down upon a bed and fell asleep, without anyone noticing him lying there. His daughters and his daughter-in-law came in, took off their silken garments and covered him up with them. They did not see him, and their deed was unintentional. R. Joseph had just come in and saw it.

Then R. Johanan said to R. Huna: "Verily the blessing of Rab has come true, who blessed you that you should be covered with silken clothes."

When Rab heard of it, he was very angry. R. Huna asked: "Why are you angry with me? Was it not your own blessing which has come true?"

Then Rab said: "You should have replied: 'May you be blessed as you have blessed me.' "
