Rab Hisda and Rabbah, the son of R. Huna, went on board a vessel. A Roman lady desired to travel with them, but they refused to take her along. So she cast a spell on the boat and it could not move from the harbor. The two rabbis then pronounced certain mystical names and the ship left the harbor. Thereupon the Roman lady said to the rabbis: "What can I do? My witchcraft does not avail against you, for none of you has eaten of a bundle, without cutting it open." Therefore friends, be careful of these three things so that no witchcraft may he practiced against you. |
