The dead man who was driven around a field which he had unjustly appropriated in life |
the story name |
|
Once upon a time a man lost his way in the great forest. In the bright moonlight, he saw a man whom he knew to be dead a long time. When he wanted to run away, the dead man called out: "Be not afraid of me, I will do you no harm," and he made himself known to him. The man said: "You have been dead so long, what are you doing here?" And the dead man said: "I will tell you. Because I took this field away by force from its owner, I have no peace, for 1 am driven all night long round it." |
