Once upon a time a gentile lady died, and as she was about to be buried she came to life again and told the following story: "I have been in the other world and I saw the Jews in paradise, and among them I saw a woman whom I knew and who had one of her hands smeared over with a salve. I said to her: 'My dear woman, why is your hand smeared and no one else's?' Then she told me that she had once touched the candles on Sabbath, and this stigma was put upon her in paradise as a mark of disgrace."

Therefore, my dear women, take care to light your Sabbath candles while it is still day, and think of the woman in paradise.
