R. Amitai who was born with the word emet imprinted on his forehead |
the story name |
|
In the days of R. Judah a child was born which had the word emet (truth) engraved upon its forehead. R. Judah took the child and brought it up carefully. Wherever he went he took the child with him, and the lad served him as a servant serves his master. R. Judah taught him, and he became a great scholar in the Torah and was called R. Amitai (from emet, the Hebrew word for truth, which was engraved upon his forehead and which signified that the child would become a great scholar). May the Lord convert all evil hearts to good. Amen. |
