כשבן עשרים הייתי כְּשֶׁבֶּן עֶשְׂרִים הָיִיתִי אָמַר לִי אִישׁ חָכָם: "הַפְקֵר מָעוֹת וָכֶסֶף, אַךְ לֹא לִבְּךָ, לֵב תַּם. תֵּן אַבְנֵי חֵן וָאֹדֶם, אַךְ לַדִּמְיוֹן קְרָא דְּרוֹר". רַק בֶּן עֶשְׂרִים הָיִיתִי, מִי, אָז, עֵצוֹת יִזְכֹּר? כְּשֶׁבֶּן עֶשְׂרִים הָיִיתִי שׁוּב שְׁמַעְתִּיו מַזְהִיר: "אִישׁ לֹא נָתַן עֲדַיִן לִבּוֹ מִבְּלִי מְחִיר – בַּאֲנָחוֹת נִמְכָּר הוּא וּבְעֶצֶב, מַר יַכְאִיב". עַתָּה שְׁנוֹתַי כ"א אֲבוֹי, אֱמֶת בְּפִיו.
